Pushpa Kumari represents a new generation of Mithila artists using the traditional art form as a vehicle for engaging with urgent contemporary issues — environmental degradation, women’s rights, and cultural displacement.
Her series Fading Waters has been exhibited at climate conferences in six countries. Her series Daughters of Mithila re-imagines the stories of women in Mithila society through the lens of the traditional Kobar room painting.
