Youth’s Enthusiasm is an arts and cultural nonprofit rooted in Janakpur, recognized for its long-standing contribution to preserving and advancing Mithila art across painting, applied arts, murals, education, and cultural exchange. With over two decades of work in the Mithila region, the organization operates as a multi-level cultural institution with strong engagement at local, national, and international levels.
At the local level, Youth’s Enthusiasm works closely with Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City and ward offices to support public murals, heritage site enhancement, cultural festivals, and community art programs, particularly around areas such as Janaki Mandir. It also collaborates with local schools and community groups to deliver youth workshops and artist training programs, strengthening cultural awareness and participation at the grassroots level.
At the institutional and national level, the organization engages with academic and cultural bodies such as Rajarshi Janak University and the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, contributing to exhibitions, training initiatives, and broader cultural discourse in Kathmandu. These collaborations help position Mithila art as a significant part of Nepal’s contemporary art landscape.
At the international level, Youth’s Enthusiasm partners with global and diaspora organizations including Mithila Center USA, enabling international exhibitions, artist exchanges, and cultural diplomacy initiatives that bring Nepali Mithila art to wider audiences. Through its work, Youth’s Enthusiasm functions as an artist development hub, training institution, and cultural platform, supporting both traditional practices and contemporary adaptations of Mithila art across murals, textiles, design, and public art. Its mission is grounded in the belief that Mithila art is a living cultural system—one that continues to shape identity, empower communities, and connect local heritage with global creative expression.
The development phase is also a time for identifying how the museum can grow with integrity. Rather than moving too quickly toward a fixed model, the initiative is being shaped with care so that its exhibitions, collections, education programs, artist support efforts, and innovation work can emerge from a strong and coherent foundation.
Youth’s Enthusiasm envisions Mithila art as a professionally sustained and globally recognized artistic practice, supported by strong institutional frameworks and active participation across cultural, educational, and creative sectors.
The organization aims to establish itself as a leading cultural institution and reference platform for Mithila art, connecting artists from the Mithila region with national and international networks for exhibition, collaboration, and exchange. Through partnerships such as Mithila Center USA, it seeks to expand global engagement while ensuring that artists remain rooted in their cultural context.
At a systemic level, the vision is to build a self-sustaining ecosystem in which artists have access to continuous training, consistent work opportunities, and structured market pathways. This includes strengthening applied arts as a viable creative economy, supporting women-led artisan groups, and creating entry points for younger generations through education and mentorship.
The long-term objective is to ensure that Mithila art is supported not only through cultural recognition, but through institutions, infrastructure, and professional practice, allowing it to remain active, influential, and relevant across both local communities and global cultural landscapes.
Our foundation operates at the intersection of art, education, and social justice, focusing on three core areas to drive sustainable cultural change.
Hosting international exhibitions and festivals that bring Mithila art to the world's most prestigious galleries.
Training the next generation of artists and educators to ensure the lineage of technique is never broken.
Providing economic platforms that allow artisan families to thrive within their own communities.
We believe that art is the lifeblood of a community. By protecting the visual language of Mithila, we are protecting the stories, wisdom, and dignity of an entire region. Founded in Janakpur, we have grown from a local initiative into an international foundation with partners across three continents. Our work is not just about paintings; it is about people, pride, and the preservation of a living heritage that has survived for millennia.
